I was raised in Conservative World and graduated from Conservative High. Even my LGTB friends voted for Trump! We keep in touch with Facebook. And, they have complained that I am so negative. This is what I posted on Facebook in reply:
So, what now? I am called to follow in the footsteps in Jesus. To speak for justice. To share love. To care for the least of these.
Many people are saying that they don't want to see negative posts on Facebook. They want everything to go back to everyone all getting along. That would be grand, but when I see the environment ruined, when I see discrimination and bigotry in its many forms supported, when I see children who need healthcare/education/food/housing, when I see times of hate....I am called to educate others. To become the voice calling in the wilderness. To be a true disciple of Christ--the one who loved freely, educated freely, fed others freely, healed freely, welcomed the stranger, cared for others outside his Jewish faith freely, cared for women and children freely.
I will exercise my Christianity. I will not be silent in the face of injustice. If that means there will be negative posts by me, then so be it. Jesus made a lot of people mad by his honesty of the hypocrisy of the day. He didn't even stop speaking for justice and love as he was dying upon a cross. How much more then should I speak out.
If my speaking out against injustice makes you uncomfortable, then you need to examine why. We have become comfortable in our homes and our "feel-good" Christianity. Guess what gang? There is a whole world of hurt out there. So when I see hurting happening, I will not remain silent. Jesus did not remain silent, and I will follow His Loving Example.
